「大谷石デザインプロジェクト」は、宇都宮市を代表する地域資源である大谷石を題材に、学生がリサーチと制作を通して、新たなプロダクトの可能性を提案する実践型のデザインプロジェクトです。

学生は、大谷石の素材としての特性や社会的・文化的なイメージを調査し、「誰に、どのような価値を届けるのか」を検討しながら、コンセプト、ペルソナ、用途、形状を具体化しました。地域資源をデザインの視点から捉え直し、その魅力や可能性を現代の生活に結びつけることで、新たな価値の創出を目指す取り組みです。

The Oya Stone Design Project is a practice-based design project in which students explore new product possibilities using Oya stone, a distinctive local resource of Utsunomiya City.

Through research and design development, students investigated the material qualities and social and cultural associations of Oya stone. They then developed concepts, personas, functions, and forms by considering who the product was intended for and what kind of value it could provide. The project aims to reinterpret a local resource from a design perspective and connect its qualities and potential with contemporary life, creating new forms of value.
